Procesul cunoa\u015fte patru etape: 1. explorarea genuin-\u00eenc\u00e2ntat\u0103 a noului device, 2. c\u0103utarea de complica\u0163ii care s\u0103 adauge ad\u00e2ncime, tinz\u00e2nd c\u0103tre epuizarea permut\u0103rilor posibile, 3. parodizarea\/ valorificarea \u00een cheie comic\u0103 \u015fi, \u00een fine, 4. decrepitudinea, adic\u0103 valorificarea prin \u00eencruci\u015farea cu subgenuri de larg consum precum nara\u0163iunea poli\u0163ist\u0103, erotic\u0103 \u015f.a.m.d. (De pild\u0103, \u00een materie de fantasy \u2013 un subgen relativ nou, num\u0103r\u00e2nd sub o sut\u0103 de ani \u2013, \u00een momentul de fa\u0163\u0103, succesul seriei Hunger Games semnalizeaz\u0103 c\u0103 am ajuns, \u00een cadrul celei de-a patra etape, la combinarea fantasy-ului cu subgenul soft-porn, sub-sub-genul teens.)<\/p>\n<p>Propun urm\u0103torul exerci\u0163iu: s\u0103 echival\u0103m critica estetic\u0103 cu un subgen literar. \u00cen cultura rom\u00e2n\u0103, critica estetic\u0103 urmeaz\u0103 toate cele patru etape ale lui Lem. Prin Maiorescu, a fost descoperit\u0103; prin E. Lovinescu \u2013 G. C\u0103linescu \u2013 Pompiliu Constantinescu, continua\u0163i apoi de criticii \u015faizeci\u015fti, a fost cartografiat\u0103, uneori cu decora\u0163iuni \u015fi volane, ca \u00een h\u0103r\u0163ile vechilor mae\u015ftri; prin optzeci\u015fti, dup\u0103 aceea, critica estetic\u0103 a fost relativizat\u0103 \u015fi tratat\u0103 cu acizii ironiei, f\u0103r\u0103 a fi \u00eens\u0103 dep\u0103\u015fit\u0103; pentru ca \u00een anii 90, prin critici precum Dan-Silviu Boerescu (nu foarte numero\u015fi, ce-i drept), s\u0103 descopere trivialul, contaminarea cu literatura de consum, devenind adesea o glum\u0103.
